Park View

The Parkview development is for 40 houses on 28 acres near Stissing Lake. It received a positive declaration under SEQR and is currently working on its Draft Environmental Impact Statement.

June 1, 2009 – This 40 house subdivision (five models of two story prefab houses to choose from) on the 28+ acre flat field on the way to the lake between Lake Road and Stissing Avenue, bordering the town recreation park, was proposed by Robert Housmann. He holds an option on the property from Jim Murphy and Lynden Chase who are the owners. This project was before the Planning Board for a year while the Planning Board repeatedly requested modifications to the project. The developer returned with insufficient changes to satisfy the Planning Board which eventually voted 4 to 3 in favor of a positive declaration, which would require a more lengthy environmental review. PPU lobbied very actively for the positive declaration (letters and petitions, including a letter from our lawyer) and our community meetings included discussions of the project. The developer then sued the town requesting that the positive declaration be voided and the moratorium not apply to this development. He lost on all counts. In the recent Planning Board meetings Eric Shields and Robert Hausmann have appeared for Parkview requesting that their development be “grandfathered in” to be able to proceed with their proposal without the new zoning regulations applying to them. The Planning Board refused that request and directed them to review the draft law in order to decide how it might affect the Parkview project. In our judgment the project probably would not be greatly altered by the proposed zoning.
