Towne Centre at Pine Plains
Towne Center has already been approved by the Planning Board and is currently under development.
June 1, 2009 – Towne Centre (Stissing Farms/VA Clinic): This 13.69 acre project is already approved. It is located on 199 on the north side of the street between the entrance to the high school and the BP station. The VA clinic is already open and the other part of that building is rented by a group affiliated with Sharon Hospital, although they have not as yet occupied the space. Behind it 48 one story condo units for buyers age 55 and above are to be constructed on about 12 acres of the property. Six one bedroom, one den prefab attached units are finished and are on the market starting at $249,000 (reduced from $279,000). A few units of the next phase of redesigned units are also now finished and on the market for $349,000. They are stick built, mostly two unit buildings (although there will be two single unit buildings) built into the hill at the back of the property. A few of the condos have gone to contract but the downturn in the real estate market has affected sales in this development. Construction of additional units will not begin until more of the existing units are sold. The remaining acreage is slated for future commercial development including a large (10,000 s.f.) two story building and a replacement of the gas station. This proposed commercial section of the property has not yet officially come before the planning board yet and therefore has not been approved.
